Well Kim, 
seems like mental ray displaces whatever *you* throw at it,
as long as you check fine and view dependent.

Too bad thats not what happens for me.
its gotten much better over the years, but for me it remains something
to be carefully considered when setting up a scene.

in my native language it exists.
its synonym for: powerful, with good results

allthough I rather wanted to say: 
fast and effective, efficient, 
yielding good results in relation to the resources used.
