Hi All,

It's v5.0.1. I've got repro even with the referenced camera gone. (Actually the repro is with everything gone but the passes - no lights, no meshes, a single camera). The scene poisons other scenes when you merge it. A scene which worked fine initially - built from scratch - will stop working without any changes (zip zilch nada nothing except hitting the save button) after the X saves.

Another weird abnormality is that presets I've saved from these dud scene cause errors when I load them in another scene I get render areas. One is complaining about a missing something and gives a guid - sorry for the poor memory - I checked the guid and it's not a plugin we've installed. But I didn't check which factory bit it is. It also throws errors saying the displacment is 0.X and clipping it to max displacement of 0. When the max displacement is set to 2. With some of these copying and pasting the nodes (not the material node though) into a new material and connecting it up fixes them. Though a SSS one even when replacing the SSS shader remains broken.

I'm doing some tests this morning, but about the only idea I've got left is that something is corrupting the scenes. First avenue I'm exploring there is the metaballs plugin - has anyone done much with that and batch rendering?

Cheers,

Alan.

Hi,

And what about rendering it within GUI version of XSI, same error? I have similar issue but only with xsibatch(but without any error message).

I'm rendering a scene, 4 passes. I've been working with it all day, previewing, messing, loading, saving. I come to render it using xsibatch -r. It loads the scene, goes to render but comes back with an error, unspecified failure at line 83 in file <factorypath>/dsscripts/rendering.vbs. The culprit line is one that calls sirender.
Anyway, I thought I'd fixed it by rebuilding passes and it was fine for rendering so I load it back in again, tweak a couple of bits on a model, save it and bang, same error.

anyone come across this anywhere, anytime?
