Hi Christopher,

Yes and no. Yes you can preview the lighting of your scene, but it's not quite real time (typically around a second per render). It depends on the complexity of the lighting (i.e. if you use area lights, shadows, etc.), but it does let you cache any results you want so the update time can be optimised.

Just to jump in on the whole Digital Fusion vs Shake discussion. I've not used Shake, but I have used Digital Fusion (as a programmer and as a compositor). Once you get used to the way it works it's a very versatile package. You do have to be quite careful when building a complex flow to name all your modifiers properly as you can get into quite a mess if you're not careful. Personally, I feel right at home with it, especially cause I can jump into the SDK and add features myself if I need to (which as someone already mentioned, is really well supported by the Eyeon team). It's a nice package and a nice company to work with. Now that Fusion's got proper 3D support and has had a few extra tweaks to the interface, I'd say it kicks ass.

The FXTree is okay. My main gripe is to do with the masks. The basics are in there, but that's all (and some of that seemed a bit buggy too)

Andy

Hi Sylvain,

How about adding a full blown 2D lighting approach to the workflow?

Making it a "push-button solution" assuring all required passes and

setups are autocreated with it, the lights will update and the resulting

render will still be splitt up into the correct passes as well.

Cheers

P.S: I allready admire the speed of rendering and interactive tuning in XSI.

Even thought I still have a hard time finding associated materials and

settings...
