16bit tiffs

Subject : 16bit tiffs
Does anyone know how XSI encodes 16bit tiffs? Is it using LZW? If so can we get an options button in the next release? Photoshop doesn't seem to like xsi's tiff flavor and I'm willing to bet that they are being compressed with jelly beans.
