Hi Kim
Sorry to sound very dumb, as I said I ve got it to work using vbscript for one frame, but Ive no idea how to do it for a scripted operator.
What value of the object would I attach this to and what syntax would be needed in a scripted Operator to load in data from a file?

Sorry, kinda lost on scripted operators.
Thanks
Duncan

shouldn't be hard.

Hey Kim thanks for that

At the moment, i have a vbscript that loads in the cloth's coordinates for a specific frame, i just need to somehow combine that with a scripted operator.
Cheers

it's easy. Check out the documentation on scripted ops, look in particular at the splatterop example.

Yup, the number of points never changes, so in theory, shouldn't be that hard - famous last words....

Does your imported coordinate set have the same number of points for each frame?

Do you know where I can get hold of that or any more information?
Ive written an external cloth simulation and it can output the cloth's coordinates of each frame to seperate text files.
I want to be able to apply these coordinates to an object in XSI that will update each frame.

Thanks

there is. But such an operator can only modify the output so it'd need an input model, which would necessarily be hidden, and an ouptut model, which is the changed one.

I don't suppose there is an "easy" way to do some clever scripted operator so that the new coordinates of each mesh file is read in at the new frame?  Like how realflow updates its meshes in XSI.  I hope that made sense!

Here is a script in jscript that gives 2 options.

1. To import the sequence as a shape animated sequence

2. To import the sequence with keyframed visibility on each frame

Subject: .obj sequence import

Hello,

Has anyone written an obj importing script that will import an obj sequence that will update based on the frame number at rendertime? I know there is the obj sequence addon in the netview but this imports the entire sequence into the scene. I cannot just animate the visibility because the files are quite large. I am hoping someone can save me some time with this one since my scripting skills are not up to the task.

Thanks!
