The sampling problem will be fixed in next release, thanks to your
repro scenes Guillaume :-)
Cluster materials disappearing using rasterizer is a known problem
that has already been fixed and will be included in the same release.
If anyone has repro scenes that they can send us the better we're able
to solve these kinds of problems.

How do you deal with shadows sampling and texture sampling ? I
can't find a way to remove aliasing problem when I use rasterized
mode.
If I use a big collect rate the problem is still there and the
render time are huge. I must use the default scanline on some
shots where rapid motion did the job far better in the past with
4.2 ( a lot of geometry ). Since mr 3.4/rasterizer mode, even
geometry details are faster to render in normal mode.. I use
something like 1-3 with a threshold of 0.001, and the render farm
is so happy !

We are using 5.01.
No, it works in some situations... but you have to be very
aware of the limitations (which isn't very well documented I
heard). Like, problems with clusters, problems with 2ndary or
primary rays turned off somewhere in the pass, reflection,
refraction and so on. We have been using RSMB for FxTree (very
fast) or AFX and XSI MB (sans Rasterizer, for rotating things
and so on) a lot lately and it works quite fine.
Stu spends most of his days rendering Lambert spheres... I
guess thats why it works out for him. ;-)
Cheers,
Axel

It woks for you ? I'm interested as it looks completely broken
to me. You use 5.01 or 5.(secret) ?

Do you have the Rasterizer (a.k.a The Root of all Evil) on?

Nope, geometry definitely not intersecting and renders
fine now that I've re-jigged the textures to avoid
cluster materials. Reckon I'll CAB the dodgy scene to
Softimage. (expensive fare – ho! ho!)
I'll bear in mind the close faces thing, Kim. Thanks
guys : )

are you rendering both front and back faces? possibly
the back faces are coming through and obscuring the front.
close together faces, apart from giving problems with
depth sorting, can hammer render times I've found in
the past.

Hi folks,
I'm animating pages of a book (using IK chains)
and so need to check 'Deformation Motion blur".
Only trouble is that the cluster material on the B
side of the pages goes black - huh ?!?!
I can workaround this by making a texture for A
and B sides in one image and redoing texture
projections, but wondered if anyone else has found
this? is there a fix? Or is it just another case
of avoid cluster materials at all costs!
Cheers,
Olly xxx
