find referenced models

Subject : find referenced models

I am trying to attempt to make a small script to localalize reference
models.  

I am useing findchildren() but it keeps getting all models not just
referenced ones.  Anyway to differentiate models from reference models in
code other then adding the prefix option in the preferences?
