A major pain however you want to look at.
We are having trouble setting dynamic IP addressing with SUSE 9.3 and XP.
We have DNS install under YAST and seems to be working but not answering 
DNS query
Hostname ping failed  Any network gurus out there?
We are going to create a host file for the time being.

It is good that we have long Winters in Canada
Save some on heating bills
