Thanks Rafe. I was trying to view the code in the script editor by Saving Keys through the Animation Button/Set Keys etc. By going through the Animation Button I was only getting SaveKey (string); 5. I thought there could have been some difference, as it was giving me a different result, but in the end I just had to make sure there was no number (frame no.) at the end of the string as this was the reason for causing my headache. Thanks again Rafe.
On another note Rafe I’m currently doing my Master of Animation at UTS and I’m looking for someone local (that’s XSI savvy) to critique my work and give some guidance when needed. I’m doing my short in XSI and it wouldn’t involve much of your time, maybe once a month looking at some screen test and the like (can be done online). If your interested that would be great just contact us off list and we’ll go from there. Thanks once again!

I'm not quite sure what you mean. If you
get a null, press 'c' and run SetKey(); in your script editor, you should

I just cant seem to get “SetKey” no matter what I set the key with, after I activate my marking sets I have: Set Key / Set Key Using Marking Sets / and Set Branch Key, and i cant seem to get (in my script editor “Set Key”) its all Save Key …… I know I could probably go thru the script and change it all, but surely there must be another way.

I honestly don't know the difference. I use SetKey() though. make sure you check the arguments for the function using the "?" button in the script editor. It should always use the current frame unless you specify otherwise (not frame 1). ________________________________R A F E S A C K SLead Character TD - TechnicalAnimal Logic Film+612 9383 - 4800
Hi all, could anyone guide me in distinguishing between the Set Key vs. Save key, in particular the Set Key. I’m referring to the Softimage XSI tutorial within the Beck Character Setup (page183). In the synoptic view there’s the keyall button which performs a “SetKey “lthumb etc. etc”. While setting up my character with marking sets I cant seem to perform the “SetKey” function to then add to my script in my synoptic view, I keep coming back too SaveKey “lthumb etc. etc”, 1. Which is setting a key frame on frame 1. I know its probably something blatantly obvious but I’ve head butted my monitor enough already. Thanks in advance. |
