Yeah, no big deal....I think the way it read in press releases and in
the PDF file though, lead me to believe it was a integrated tool that
didn't require Max to be installed. Oh well. Good release
though......very impressed with the reorder tool being able to resort
things like passes....very nice. Gator for Max is an interesting
release. Anyone use it with Max yet?

You can install the trial, right? Still lame, but that's how
everything else seems to get .max files open. I blame Max for having
a really crazy format, not Soft.
Also, is there a way to make it import without triangulating
everything? If not, this import is kind of useless, since there are
ways to get the non-triangulated mesh across. Err, maybe not useless,
and it's a good starting point, but I can't imagine ever using it
until it gets some more features. For example, a user normal cluster
needs to come through to deal with Max's smoothing group thing.
I don't want to bash the release, though. I'm really happy to have
it. In particular, I'm glad to see the additional options for the
rasterizer and deformation motion interpolation. And I haven't tried
the collada import either, so I'll be interested to see how it holds
up. Also, I read through the bug list and am of course glad for
everything in there. Particularly some of the reference model stuff.

I was all excited about the Max import option but it appears that you
still need Max8!!!?? What gives?! I thought you could import the
max file format without that horrible piece of software.
