Hi Todd,

About the UV's I was more thinking in the line of letting the artist
creating the UV's on a basic texture in the app they feel comfortable in, so
I can at least use that in the other app. One less thing to recreate after
moving the model over. Rendering etc. would be finished in just one app.

Thanks again for the replies, makes it a lot clearer now. Seems the way to
go for this project, does 5.1 come in time?? ;)

cheers,

rob wuijster

Yeah, you'd probably have to redo it anyway so I'd never consider it a
major loss. I've never met anyone who ever wanted to use any of those
trees that were made automatically anyway.

The texturing I've always felt was trivial to rebuild. That said I
can't think of a really good reason why you'd need to replicate the
exact same render out of each package, or why you'd want to render it
twice. If you really needed stuff to come out exact (say reflections,
for instance) then you could maybe start looking in to lightmaps which
probably wouldn't be too bad since you'd have common uv's and the same
animation.

XSI seems to be using the 1.4 version or at least I can read/write
everything using that with all the other packages.
