Hi,
Problem at the time was a corrupted scene that wouldn't load in v4.2, but
did in v5. I wanted to bring the .xsi file back into v4.2 for merging, but
couldn't do it due to version differences of the .xsi format. I'm pretty
sure I tried all options/versions at the time...
I finally did a split render between scenes for the comping, no biggy.
Will try again with a simple scene to see if I screwed up somewhere ;)
Backward compatibility for .xsi scenes is a must, also for stuff like .emdl
files.
cheers,
rob wuijster

Actually, I'm absolutely sure it didn't change. We've been working with
dotXSI 3.6 for years, and there were no changes to the file format up to
now, that's why it still is called version 3.6.
Softimage introduced dotXSI v5 with XSI v5; Rob, is it possible that you
accidentially tried to import a dotXSI v5 file into XSI v4.2?
On the other hand, there is a bug in the 64bit XSI v5 build where bone
chains don't get plotted correctly for dotXSI v3.6. However, this bug
applies to the 64bit version only...
Cheers!
