There are a couple of examples in the SDK Docs under that heading
(I'm not being funny - the docs will do a much better job of explaining it)

Just a longshot, but have you tried the new 5.1 method for stacks?
 
GetConnectionStackInfo (DataRepository)
 
Could be worth a look...
