What is this guy's email address? I could write to him letting him
know I'm temporarily unsubscribing him and resubscribe him when he gets back
from vacation. maybe I'll get a postcard out of it.

It doesn't really matter what direction you take them from. Ideally a telescopic lens and a long way away is best.
If you're small enough you might even be happy enough with just one set.
If you're taking two to get better results take them 90 degrees apart around the "Y axis" (ok I know there isn't one)
Cheers,
Alan.

Hi All,
After reading a bunch of stuff about HDRI image gathering on set, I'm
still a bit confused about the method of getting the Probe Reference
Shots and the Color Reference Shots.
The part of shooting the sphere on close (on 2 sides) with several
exposures and using HDRShop is pretty clear. But from where do you shoot
the reference shots??
Any help is appreciated, don't want to come back with half of the images
needed.
