there was a user here a while back that got XSI crashing all the time and it was due to a spyware injecting itself to all running applications and leaking resources.  Either Spybot or Adware removed it -- I think we really had a big problem there tracking it down.   There was also a 
Crash with quicktime running however could be a problem with the video card, perhaps even an actual hardware problem.
