are you sure?<br>
<span>ive</span> managed to speed up <span>renders</span> considerably
in the past by bringing excessive max displacement settings down to a
reasonable level?<br>
has something changed with these settings?<br>

<span>From</span> what i gather the max <span>disp</span> setting
defines the bounding box of the object before mental ray <span>tessellates
it. <br>
if it is set too large mentalray assumes the object will exist in
places where it does not, this bog down its preliminary visibility
calculations.<br>
