I have an update regarding this anomoly. Interestingly enough our XSI
crashes have ceased abruptly since late last week. We have determined
here that the crashes were being caused somehow by an open port to a
satellite system used for rendering. We are not sure, but we expect that
the culprit lies with the satellite machine, we don't why or how. We had
other people using the machine during that time period quite frequently
and we have also learned that rebooting it after XSI has made a
connection to it will cause XSI to crash. It's further assumed that if
the machine gets rebooted overnight the XSI crash on the host machine
may also be postponed until the user logs in the host machine the next
morning, which makes it difficult to associate the two events. Our XSI
crashes have ceased since I removed this machine from the rayhost list
via UserTools. It was a new machine added back into the network a couple
of weeks ago and the rayhost file was modified at that time to test
XSI's compatibility with it. We are doing further testing in order to
confirm this in more detail.
