I think I got it working. The trick was to dump all the files from the
Nvidia CG compiler into my XSI bin directory. Like I said, all the cg
nodes were working fine on XSI 5.0 on this same machine (and the others
I tested on). The only thing I can think of that could be box-specific
would be if there's something weird about the environment variables on
our machines. But it still seems weird that it would work on XSI 5 and
not 5.1 if that's the case. I suppose there are new .dll dependencies
that didn't exist before.
Anyway, if someone could confirm this isn't working out of the box, I'd
still appreciate it. I don't want to be reporting a bug if it's my own
stupid fault.

Before I start punching things, can anyone else confirm that the CG
Program node is broken in XSI 5.1?
Here's the quick test:
1) Load XSI 5.1.
2) Create an object.
3) Open the render tree.
4) Get a Nodes->Realtime Cg->Cg Program node from the render tree.
5) Open the rendertree and look to see if it says:
#WARNING : 3000 - RT shader DLL (Cg_Shaders.dll) not found in path
6) (Optional) Verify that the file Cg_Shaders.dll does in fact exist
in "C:\Softimage\XSI_5.1\Application\bin."
This node worked fine in 5.0. I'm assuming if it's broken, it has
something to do with the new CG FX node.
Thanks,
Andy
