I remember being one the few people asking for the behavior to be changed.
The reason was because when you open a scene from someone else, and one of the viewport was set to Isolate Selection, you could have a hard time figuring out why some objects were not visible. There was nothing in the UI that told you it was activated.
Now, at least you know when it's on and when its's off.


For those of you who want the previous behavior, just install the attached addon.
