I'm not sure if there's a function in XSI to do something like that... I
beleive I saw that option in XSI somewhere but I'm not sure where... Maybe
it was something else... I don't remember. I do remember though that a
friend of mine used a script he found on the internet a couple years ago
that would do just that. Not sure what name it had or where he found it
though. But it's a pretty simple script to make. I'm sure it wouldn't take
you too long to create such a script. Unless Sebastien still has that
script?

"Seb?? T'as encore le script que tu avais utiliser pour faire ta montagne?"

We'll see if he still has that... otherwise, maybe some one else knows the
XSI command or what script I'm talking about?

But if you prefer to make it in metal ray, that would be some nice practice
for you as well.

I'd be suprised that such a tool wasn't available though. It's pretty easy
to create and I'm sure there must be something available somewhere. I would
gladly do it for you if I had more spare time but I'm sure you can easily
write your own script to do that if nothing else is available. If you need a
few suggestions on which approach to use, ask and I'll let you know how I
would do it but I'm not gonna get into that yet since there's a good chance
someone else will point you towards an already available solution.

Thanx Mathieu,
Yep, that's the one, though it's not behaving exactly as I thought it
would. The iterative thing is nice, though. And makes me a bit more
confident that something like that should be doable with multiple
textures. Might look into writing a shader for that...Another thing
would be to convert the first displacement to polygons (maybe with maya
- can XSI do that somehow?) and do the second displacement on the new
mesh...

Thanx a lot
Philipp
