Hmmm - As far as I know this is the case:

You Buy XSI - whatever version - this is ONE license of XSI
You Upgrade it - they send you a license string that allows you to run new version - this is ONE license still but can run the new version OR older versions - not both at the same time!!

This is so you cannot say have bought 4.2 - then upgraded it - now run 5.0 AND 4.2 - effectively now TWO licenses - which you could easily do if you were prepared to not use the new tools/bug fixes on 1 machine!

So - the new license will allow you to run ANY older version, but not at the same time!

Cheers

S.

Hi André,

thanks for the clarification, by starting to use XSI with 5.01
I didn´t have a chance to go through an upgrade process yet.

But how do they prevent you from running both 4.2 and 5.x?

Sorry if this sounds stupid but when I upgrade a floating license,
I *should* be able to use a server and hand out a (4.2) token to
another machine, render as usual and still run a second 4.2 GUI
from the new 5.x license?

Cheers

tim

I don´t want to argue, it´s just curiosity.
