Hello Tim, yeah that could be a possibility. I may just still be
running 4.2 BUT, I installed the 5.x licence and when I check licence
keys I don't know off hand but it does list 5.0 in there for licence,
so then why isn't it running ?!?!

Hi Chris,

sorry for not getting back to you any earlier.
I´ve been distracted by F.E.A.R all day...

Seems you´ve allready been helped patiently.
I´m glad things are running fine for you now.

Cheers

tim

Hi Chris,

are you sure you´ve got the right license*.keys (for 5.x) installed on
your system? Maybe the licenseserver is still using the 4.2*.keys?
(keep an external backup of all your *.keys ...)

I´m not sure how well you get around your own computer
(I have problems with mine, too sometimes) so as a brute
force approach, you could - again, as a last resort - simply
uninstall the Softimage Licensing>Setup of XSI 4.2 and
XSI 5.x, reboot and redo the SPM (licensing) setup for
XSI 5.1 only to see if this get´s you going. No need to
re-install 4.2/5.1 themselves.

If you´re not in a tight deadline situation that is, otherwise
I´d also stick to 4.2 until there´s enough time to do things.

I´ve installed 5.01/5.1 here but haven´t fully transitioned either yet.

Hope this helps somewhat,

Cheers

tim

Hello Tim, I am thinking even though it is a 5.1 licence here. It is
running 4.2 fine but as you said blocking 5.1 from running. Oh crap
how do I figure this web out. <sigh>

What do the Lictools say?

Did you actually *install* the new 5.x license or are
you trying to run the version 5 from the old 4.2 license,
e.g. just installed the program but not the new licensefile?

Theoretically, it should be possible to run 4.2 and 5.x
simultaneously, as long as you keep the licensefiles
organized correctly, you should be able to *merge*
them in the keydatabase and run both progs, each
with it´s own key. The help and two nights without
sleeping much should get you there (I can´t help much,
I´m coming from the MayaFlexLMside, SPM is a bit
new for me too but should be the same route).

Basically, check your license, see if it´s registered
correctly and if running the 4.2 would block the
start of the 5.x

Cheers
