Can you guys clarify. I've tried this several times and I can't get it to work.

I've been taking objects into Maya for a mirror script there.

 duplicate your model, tag points and scale -X the copy.
 
 Apply Gator with Mirror on.
 
 I use it a couple of time and it was something like this.
