well... the secret of the dongle is that you can send dead hamsters to a
guy on this list called Bradley Gabe, and notify Soft of the act by
keeping the shipping receipts and some photos of the boxes contents.
The above procedure normally gets Soft to respond in half the time and
without charging (don't know why, I just do it and it seems to work).
It's also the only way to make sure your feature requests implemented in
a timely manner, well... that or sending them "left nuts" apparently,
but I've never tryied the latter.

Hmm, maybe in hindsight my question was somehow trivial, still the answer
might have been not to contact softimage but that one does not receive a
replacement dongle. Softimage has already answered and you get a
replacement, which is nice, still if you buy a car and ask for a
replacement it's usually you that has to pay.
So from now on I am not a USB-Dongle failure virgin anymore .. ;) and will
sit down and repent my sins.
