Really depends on the animator. Most of the ones taught to use this workflow seem to dig it.
It's also not a surprise you didn't know about it, most people don't because it's one of those functions that's completely unique to XSI. Coming in from other apps where you pretty much *have* to do the parent offset control, one would never even think to look. :-)
