I just need to initialize some global variables.

Can you give any more info? What are you trying to do in your script that you need to run it when opening the synoptic view instead of onClick? Can you embed the synoptic in a custom relational view or custom property editor and do your processing outside the synoptic?

But they are only passed to functions invoked by the onClick event
handler, aren't they? If I call a function when opening the synoptic
view, how can I query there the in_obj variable? The in_obj variable is
empty in all other functions which I cannot invoke from an onClick event
handler.
Thanks,
Sascha

Use the in_obj parameter that's passed to the synoptic script function. There's more info in the guides.

They are not own models. I'll try to make it clear. I have a number of
characters as reference models in a scene. All reference models are
pointing to the same .emdl. So all models are having also the same
synoptic view. When I open now a synoptic view of one the characters and
I'm looking inside a script function for a specific object or parameter
in the scene of course I'm running into the problem how to distinguish
between all the same reference models. How can I do that?
Thanks,
Sascha

and then if u just need to go inside the synoptic property just click
on the property and u can give the path and to edit the synoptic page
just use the synoptic editor. i hope this will help .
