i have not.. but that type of problem is probably in the graphics driver 
area.

alternatively that slider is connected to your min and max samples in 
the "view render options" region>options.

a little segue into a quirk in xsi... the title of the render region 
options ppg is "view render options" which is found under 
region>options. i instinctively call them "region options" or "render 
region options" why the inconsistency?
