Yes, I think the pivot stuff should be exposed more in the UI and not
just through the kinematics ppg.
I remember trying to use expressions to control the pivot once before
and I think I encountered the same update problem. Of course, it is not
that easy to wire up the pivot since you would have to convert your
positions into the right space before applying it to the pivot.
Sounds like it might be more useful to have something like a "pivot
constraint" to do the dirty work for you. (but I haven't though too
deeply about this) I think it is best if you log a suggestion for this
one.

Are you considering revisiting the pivot manipulation workflow?
We did some work recently which made heavy use of pivot, and it was less
than ideal only being able to animate the pivot fro the Kinematics PPG.
I tried locking the pivot to an arbitrary controller with an expression,
but there appeared to be a refresh problem.
Do you have any suggestions as you the easiest way to manage this?
