My experience with the Binary Alchemy Shaders is somewhat limited, but what I have used works great.
I would expect that with some work you could achieve these kinds of effects that you mention.

It works both with particles and volumes.  If you are comfortable with particles I think you could make just about any type of cloud type things.
I am currently deforming these particle clouds with chains to create animated animals and other sorts of things.
its also quite inexpensive for what it can do IMO

Good morning,

I’m looking for a plugin (XSI)  or standalone app that can recreate violent-storm cloud/sky VFX

ala “War of the Worlds” or “Close Encounters of the Third Kind.”

Does anyone have any clues as to where I can look to achieve this effect?

I looked at the BinaryAlchemy plugin. It looks great! Does it have this ‘animatable’ capability? Does anybaody have a any feedback using this?

I’m putting RealFlow through some tests but the turnaround process is very time consuming when colliding fluids.

Thanks and have a good day.
