The thought occurred to me, and to be quite honest appealed to me at
first, irregardless the fact it would mean yet another language to
learn. However, I think what bothered me about python was all of the
mails to the list from folks having difficulty with python because of
version differences, or this or that. Further it looked like something I
was going to have to load and if I was going to load something I would
have much rather loaded Perl. :)

Upon trying to determine where to start, there didnt seem to be as many
example code references in the docs for python as there was for vb and
j. So I figured I might as well approach this topic from the vantage
point of what seemed liked Softimage's "blessed" languages, vb and j.
That way I would spend less time having to figure out what I'm doing
wrong by eliminating the multiple language issues from my learning
curve. And admittedly, this approach seemed easiest coming from a mel
backround where there is only one "blessed" language in the scripting
model.

I must say though, I've been genuinely pleased with XSI's scripting SDK
so far. It's very robust. I am finding the OM and workgroups to be quite
a refreshing way of implementing a library of custom tools.

Again, thanks for the kind words and compliments.
