To be fair,
maybe we should just wait a couple of days. Not until Siggraph but a couple of days, so that the guys have time to come up with something, either the Fnd 5.11 compatibility upgrade, an official roadmap, a pricetag or maybe just the files they couldnÂt get done before the weekend.
In terms of logic, itÂs too early to make an assumption.
To make my point clear, whatever software I use, I like to have things as consistent as possible.
IÂm a messy by nature myself allready :-)
Cheers

hey - Â,
As far as I know, upgrades were never a part of the Foundation deal. The 5.1 release was an exception, not the rule, and I believe that was officially stated at the time of release.
ItÂs not wether the 5.11 update is an upgrade or a patch (fixing bugs) itÂs about the incompatibility this introduces between the Fnd and the latest Adv/Ess version when trying to share projects between different seats. Either in the same company or when getting freelance stuff in/out.
Imho, this is not ideal.
Thomas HelzleÂs reaction is therefore pretty much logic , a marketing statement promising 3D-democracy, a 3D love tour and a seperation into two, incompatible strands of software dontÂfit together nicely really.
You could as well have changed the Adv/Ess *. scnfile format to *.club.
Cheers
tim
P.S: Fnd is a great tool for the price, leading in itÂs segment and sort of the cheap way to get in - not neccessarily the backstage all areas pass but it should at least allow to attend the same show, right?

But if you think you look spiffy with a tinfoil hat on then by all means, keep wearing it.

Cool, the originally announced policy starts to finally unfold...
Now that everybody is in the boat, start to increase the pressure to update. Too many people being too happy with Foundation? ;-)
I'm looking forward to how this is handled in the future. What will be coming with 6.0? No updates for Foundation? Reduced functionality? Time to move on?
Interesting times indeed...
Note: never let a commercial company tell you anything about (3)Democracy ;-)
Cheers,
Thomas Helzle
