i experienced this myself and to be honest, i didnt investigate it till
i found a solution.
in my case the textures where too big to be stored in memory. that might be
the case for you too?
one thing that comes to my mind now is: did you try to convert these
textures to the MR map format? (memory mapped)
there is an option in the render dialogue (optimization) to do this on
the fly. maybe it can help.
