Gentoo :-) portage keeps track of where it installs and will clean it
all out for you too.
emerge foobar to install
emerge -C foobar to uninstall
oh and to check what files it installed
equery files foobar
oh and what application(s) did that file come from
equery belongs foofile
oh and not to mention in most cases it'll automatically be added to
your kde and gnome applications list anyway so you'll just be looking
under your applications menu - plus it's pretty much always in the
path so you can just type foobar in your console or add it to your
menu if you're using a more slimmed down DE or just a window manager.
Of course I'm sure you can do all those things in windows..... Apps
always uninstall cleanly there.
