Subject: Displace with fractal in Viewports
Is there any way to displace geometery with a world-coordinate fractal
pattern such that I can see the displacement in the viewport (i.e. not
render-time displacement)?
I need to limit the displacement based on a weightmap.

Well if you only need to use a displacement to drive the map you can do that
from the rendertree.
I have an object that I need to displace. The object has a weightmap with
1.0 where I need the displacement to be full effect, blended to 0 where it
should have no effect. The displacement that I need is basically that of a
world cooridinate 3d fractal that I want to move THROUGH the object's
space (simulate turbulent wind). Then I need hair to stick to the geometry
at the displaced coordinates, and I need the hair dynamics to respond to
them. This is why I can't use render time displacement.
Any thoughts? Thanks in advance.
