I’ve just been reminding myself about your rather nice demo for putting textures from mr into the realtime display, Guillaume. Nice, and I think I’m going to be using it here a lot. I’m starting to get rather attached to lightmaps. They’re cool, aren’t they.

I think it is possible with a scripted operator reading before the last operator but it is not the fastest solution if nobody already write a scop like this ( I don't speak of speed execution/interaction ).

The "out of the box solution" is to duplicate your object before the problematic operator ( a lattice for example ) and apply a shape key from the copy after the problematic operator. This way you can modulate the shape with a weight map.

Cheers,

In noticing how many Deform tools do NOT have the ability to modulate

tool to un-deform an object through a weightmap? This would let you use
the inverted weightmap to get the same effect as limiting ANY deform by a
weightmap.

Sounds like an insanely useful tool. So I wondered if such a thing
existed...
