DELL/Alienware/Boxxtech WAS Re: Re: Mac Book Pro and XSI

I'm trying to buy one of the other options, but BoxxTech seems to have only $4000 machines! So what model of Dell or Alienware do you recommend me?

i have not much to say about xsi running on the mac book pro but about the hardware/software itself:

 

i just have finished an interactive installation using the new intel duo imac. from our experience we do not recommend this generation of macs to anyone. as with a lot of firstgen products from apple they are buggy as hell. using windows on them might add some more bugs too.

 

we had/have unsolved issues with the USB ports being deactivated randomly. first it was a osx bug (that was solved after i finished my project) that disconnected the keyboard randomly so i had to replug every 5-20 minutes while coding....

 

as for the mac book pro, there is the same thing happening. even mac geeks around me where stunished at first but after one day of playing with it, they thought too that too much is buggy, overheated and so on.

 

sorry, i do not want to break your fun down but i had a hard month with the intel duo machines behind me....

 

in fact i think too that you can get very decent workhorses from alienware/boxxtech without paying the design of apple.

 

so, if you want to work, get technology that is on the market for some time already and has been tested and approved. if you want to research and play, then apples can be a nice thing to have.
