Leaving the AO issue aside, the setup you mentioned will never give you a correctly working bump mapping effect. There is a difference between a bump map and a height map, the height map being the (usually grayscale) image you use to define the structure, the bump map being a map of vector data where a new set of normals has been calculated for the specific object by taking the mapped height map and the object's surface normals into account. The Color2Vector does not provide this functionality, this is what the bump map generator node is needed for.
