Per-face data have been introduced for polygonal geometric objects. Per-face data make it possible to attach arbitrary floating point data to the primitives. An object may also contain per-primitive data information to identify the data attached to the primitives.

will this feature enable clusters to be put in partitions?

I hope Soft does adopt the new CC rendering in future XSI versions.  Will be faster and better for memory.

What do you mean? I found it only in Maya but not in mental ray 
standalone at least not in the mental images documentation. Can you 
point me  to the page? I thought only mental matter has it.

Hmm, it already had, but not this kind.

Would like to try the new FG options, perhaps the less flickering is true...
