And on the bottom of "Hierarchical Subdivision Surfaces":
"mental ray 3.2 and later have subdivision surface rendering support built in,
and require no external library."
A friend of mine told me some time ago that MRay has SDS and he wanted to know
why XSI does not has this geometry type. I think it was because the MRay SDS was
a different SDS algorithm which results in a different look. Same as the two
different XSI SDS algorithms.
