I need to render a really large image for a banner
and to that end I have been looking through the different ways of splitting
rendering in to smaller chunks. I know a fair deal about rendering large images
so I have the basics covered but need a bit of help or a pointer in the right
direction here. The goal is to get 4-6 smaller images and distribute them
between more than one machine so they will arrive in a timely manner. The thing
is I need to render with FG and combined with the complexity of the image with a
lot of raytracing, a 3600 x 2800 render takes around 3,5 hours on one machine. I
will need four of those divided into several passes so I had a look at Andy
Hayes fine Render_Splitter script. It works fine but apparently creates a pass
with a subregion, renders it then creates a new subregion and renders that etc.
until all divisions are rendered. Using subregion cropping means MR needs to
store the final image size, which in this case is 3360 x 11200 pixels which I
have experienced problems with so I would like to know if someone knows a way to
render and save only the cropped region?
- thanks
