Ok, this is driving me nuts.  When you bring in say a narrow image to 
use in a viewport to rotoscope, XSI crops the viewport to the ratio of
    

  
image.  I wish there was a way to turn this off.  I know I can use a 
grid or something but thats just more annoying.
