Let me guess...  By chance, do you have a dual core processor?  If so, this is an issue that's been mentioned a few times.  I think the only solution at the moment is to disable one of the cores or something.  Hopefully SI will be able to fix this in the next update...

I've tried esc key, Q key/mouse click on a point, the little red x by the rendering status bar at the lower right of the xsi workspace... All of these work, sometimes. Most of the time, I've got to wait until the render is nearly done before it picks up abort. Wasting quite a lot of time.... Does anybody have a better way?
