Make sure you have all the same addons, plug-ins installed.  I have noticed that even missing shades can cause this kind of behaviour.

I just pulled up a character and rig from a year ago. Looks like I have some work to do. What would cause all the enveloping to be screwy? It was archived and restored from DVD's.
