And also saved as 16 bits per pixel? Or in a compressed format (TIFF
support LZW, packbits, RLE and other...)

Well, all I know is that tiffs are huge compared to
other formats.

Are you sure they didn't give you CYMK?  Or save it
with multiple alphas?  Could also be the PC/Mac when
they save the file, I am not sure if this makes a huge
difference, but it might be worth seeing if you get
faster or slower times with the same sequence saved
both ways.
