Yeah I know that custom CPP are the way to go when doing this, but like I said I wasn't involved in the set up of this job so I was working with what I was given... I just needed to get 13 clips of animation into one long scene and it seemed like a good idea and seemed to work, but it's all fixed now, I re-rendered last night.

Thanks guys,

Hi Matt,

I've modified Saf's scene slightly, is this what you've tried to do? If I understand you correctly you've used an animation clip that contains the shape weight slider animation of all shape clips in this mixer to drive your shape animation, right?

To be honest I'm not quite sure why you did that... did you (or your collegue in this case) had to stretch / squash / blend this weight animation and that's why you've put it into an ActionSource? We're using an approach on our rigs here that resembles Saf's (i.e. using CPP sliders to drive shape clip weights, which are then driven by a mixer clip if necessary), which causes no problems on the farm, at least not on our farm... ;-)

Cheers,
Markus

Hi Saf,

There is no custom property that drives the animation of the shape clips in
my scene. It's literally the weight sliders in the mixer that are being
driven by an animation clip in the same mixer. The reason for this is that I
inherited this scene from another animator and he had been using the clips
for quick facial changes, nothing worth setting up sliders for, so I just
kept using his clips and work the same way he did. It's fine though, it was
more an observation than something that I desperately need to fix. I've
plotted it now and it seems fine, I just need to re-render.

Thanks for replying though,

Hi Matt,

I did a quick test here, seems to work fine (I've attached
the scene - V5.0).  Is the Action clip being nested under
the correct Model?  I guess it must be doing this,
otherwise no shape change would occur at render time.  Are
any of the expressions linking the sliders to the shape
mixer being disrupted or removed by you farm or when you
create the action clip?
