Hi guys,

made it. There´s several little buggers that interfered.
First of all, the TextureSpacegenerator Environment
Shaders don´t line up by default, it´s required to scale
the Environment by Z -1 and rotate it Y -90°.

Once that is done, make sure your Texturespacegenerator
is set to Implicit, Spacetransformations happening in World,
Projectionmethod stays Spherical, obviously.

I think the misalignment is a nasty bug.

Here´s a *.scn (XSI 5.11adv/edu) 200kB, watch _underscore:

Here´s a screenshot of XSI and rendertree, 100kB:

That done, it´s also true that for better imagequality, one
could just do a lookup of the backroundplate/image in
screenspace/cameraspace and mix that with the shadow,
e.g. what David said would look better in a final.
The above shader is for wip purposes, simple turntables and such,
where the *.hdr is blurred and it´s just desireable to block some
of the light that comes from below and would give a creepy look...

Cheers

tim
