If you do that, then it'll catch FG/GI/caustics all the time, full strength, whether you want it or not.
I added a shader that sits in between that calculates irradiance the same way that the rest of the XSI base shaders do. You're saying that isn't working? I just tried here and it looks ok to me.

Actually it isn't. That's the problem.
there're these lines that read:
Connection "diffuse::indirect" = value off;
and
Connection "lm_sample::indirect" = value off;
that need to be on instead of off.
You will get a very different result.
So that's where the problem started. So then is there a way to get this
working without spdl?
I actually opened a case with support regarding this. Reproed and
confirmed on their side but without a real solution other than editing spdl.
