but you cant tweak the ptype behaviour individually for the added emission.
timing as such is only tweakable globally on the cloud for start and stop frames of the simulation, and on the scene for framerate.
keep in mind that forces are applied per cloud, with, their influences tweakable per ptype
obstacles per ptype, (when you apply an obstacle to a cloud it gets applied to all ptypes)
that adding a lot of emitters is slower that one complex emitter (eg merge all emitter meshes if possible)
and it is generally best not to transform your cloud or model null.
all this to say that sometimes you add an emitter with the same ptype, sometimes with a new ptype, sometimes you need to add a new cloud, all dependening on what you want to be the same and what you want to be different at other places in the scene, and possibly on how you want to split this up in rendering...
Thanks for all the quick replies! Makes an additional lookup in the manual a lot easier :-)
It's working now.

Hope this helps.

HI,
I have made a simple particle setup from grid, and want to copy this setup over several places in my scene, adjusting timing on the copies. Or is there a way to connect the cloud setup to new emitters, like in Maya with the connection editor....
I can remember threads on this, but don't really have the time to delve into this atm.... :-(
