Use the free BA_color_switcher for your render tree.
Then you don't need most of the materials in passes any more.
You just plug in the different shaders for your different passes into different inputs.
Then you just override the switch no for all objects in your passes.
You will keep displacement, bump and sprite matte.
 
And if you like, you can render different inputs into different pass channels, instead of different passes.
(There will be a fix in the next time that you can plug in XSI materials and render them into different channels, too)

I can't avoid Override for this scene. I need to have a AO with displacement and bump :/
So I hunt bug at each rendering. This is a pain :/
