Have you tried turning off open GL for the f-curve editor in the
preferences? This will slow down your work but at least you'll be able to
work.

Had the trouble swithcing from 3button to 3button scroll wheel and had no
trouble at all with 5.11. If you have problems with mouse and editors it was
mmb + scroll on previous versions of xsi on linux. So this was obsolete as
cygwin.

You could just try Raw X and see if it works. that would rule out
windows managers at all.

Or if you have a windows box and cygwin, run the xwindows server for
cygwin and try it.

One failsafe is blackbox for me, nothing too fancy. Yes it just might be
in kde but just tell me about your pointing device, how many buttons?
scroll wheel? Multiple pointing devices such as wacom on side? If you
have
a scroll wheel as midbutton, try scrollig it over mixer or other editors
and will it stay up with that? Mouse thing might sound ridiculous, but
really is not.
